Convention 05

Once again Guy and Jean chose the right date for the Convention in September. It was a lovely day, so we were all able to bask in the sunshine on their patio and enjoy good food, drink and company. Once again many fans had made extensive journeys to attend - one couple called from a few miles away, but were lost and never did arrive! Another long-standing fan and friends came over from the Isle of Man especially, but vehicle trouble saw them heading for Liverpool Docks instead of Shropshire.

Later Guy held an auction of collectable items; there was some very fierce bidding among some fans, but everyone left The Wain House happy with their purchases, whether from the auction or from the treasure chest that is Guy's Book Store! Towards the end of the afternoon the weather turned, but it was fortunate that we were just about to go indoors to watch a video, 'Island Claws', based on one of Guy's 'Crabs' books. This was a surreal experience: a very mixed group of people in Guy's living-room, all enthralled by an American B Movie!
