Convention 2006
The annual Guy N. Smith Convention took place at Guy's home in Shropshire on Sunday 3rd of September 2006. Once again, a number of serious fans travelled from all over the UK to attend, from as far afield as Blackpool, Oxfordshire and Nottinghamshire. They were clearly dedicated to have made four-hour round-trips! However they knew this was worth it because, among other things, several very rare collectible items came up for sale at the auction which would be unattainable elsewhere. They also had free access to the Guy N. Smith Bookstore, and brought their collections of Guy N. Smith books for him to sign, which he did all too willingly. Jean as ever provided more food and drink than they could consume. All in all, it was once again a friendly, relaxed day. One might wonder whether any other authors allow their fans into their home in such an open way!
A good hour was spent with Guy perusing his private collection, and upon finding that he had more than one copy of editions of German anthologies he promptly put them into the auction. The same fan bought them all and couldn't believe his luck!
