Moles are mysterious and interesting creatures which will tax the skills of any trapper, whether amateur or professional. Their habits are difficult to observe because the greater part of their lives are spent below ground and, therefore, they also provide a challenge to the genuine naturalist.
The purpose of this book is twofold. It is intended primarily as a manual for the amateur mole-catcher, but also depicts a period of country life, of which the average person has little knowledge, through the lives of Frank Weale – a mole-catcher who operated in south Shropshire just after World War 1 – and David Imrie – another profession mole-catcher.
